Healthcare Specialist

Location: Remote w/ Field Assignments in Sana’a, Yemen

Duration: 36-month contract (with potential for extension)

Project Overview: This project will be implemented in Yemen, Sana’a. The project objective is to rehabilitate and enhance healthcare services. This initiative focuses on upgrading the hospital infrastructure, increasing access to essential healthcare services for mothers and children, introducing specialised departments for paediatric tumour treatment, and building the capacity of healthcare providers.

The Role: We seek an experienced Healthcare Specialist to lead the M&E component of the healthcare project in Yemen. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the humanitarian and development field, with specific healthcare project experience.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Collection: Systematically collect, analyse, and manage data relevant to the project’s objectives, including the state of hospital infrastructure, access to healthcare services, and the effectiveness of the new paediatric tumour treatment department.
2. Monitoring Project Activities: Regularly monitor and evaluate the implementation of project activities against planned objectives and indicators. This includes assessing the rehabilitation of hospital infrastructure, expanding healthcare services, and developing and integrating the specialised department.
3. Report Writing: Prepare comprehensive reports summarising findings from monitoring and evaluation activities, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations for improving project outcomes.
4. Quality Care Assessment: Evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives for healthcare providers, ensuring they deliver high-quality care across all services.
5. Partnership and Sustainability Monitoring: Monitor and assess the strength and impact of partnerships with local organisations and governments, focusing on the sustainability and continuous improvement of healthcare services

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background: Advanced degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field.
2. Experience in Healthcare Projects: Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation within the healthcare sector, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience in projects focusing on hospital infrastructure, maternal and child health, and capacity building for healthcare providers is highly desirable.
3. Methodological Expertise: Strong understanding of M&E methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection and analysis techniques, and impact evaluation.
4. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex data and translate findings into actionable insights and recommendations. Proficiency in statistical software and tools like Kobo and SPSS is an asset.
5. Reporting Proficiency: Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to produce precise, concise, and insightful reports.
6. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effectively presenting findings and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
7. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs and work effectively under pressure in challenging field conditions.
8. Collaborative Spirit: Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and building strong working relationships with local partners, government entities, and community members.
9. Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
10. Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel within Yemen to monitor project activities and assess the impact of interventions

Being a Yemeni national or having substantial work experience in Yemen would be highly advantageous, offering valuable insights into the cultural and operational landscape of the region.
